We participate in two annual shows a year, and we occasionally demonstrate at other events. We also occasionally teach basket weaving classes, so check our events calendar on this page for all upcoming events!
The first show is the annual Sycamore Steam Power Show & Threshing Bee in August. We demonstrate weaving and chair caning, and have our handwoven baskets available for sale.
We also host a house in the annual Genoa-Kingston Christmas Craft Walk, starting one week after Thanksgiving. We have baskets for sale, and a variety of other crafts and gifts from other family members and friends.
Other Events and Classes
We typically teach at least one basket weaving class each year. We will announce any upcoming classes on this page and on our Facebook page. If you are interested in arranging a basket weaving class for your group, or attending an upcoming class, please contact us via the contact page. We may be able to accommodate your request if time allows.
We will have two free basket weaving classes at the Wilmette Public Library this year. The first is on Saturday, June 29 and is for adults and teens to make a wooden-bottom Fruit Basket. The second class will be Saturday, September 7, and is for youth grades 5-8 to make a wooden-bottom Candy Basket. Registration is required for either class, and registration begins two weeks before the class. Visit the Wilmette Public Library website (http://wilmette.libnet.info/event/1822076) or call 847-256-5025 to register.
We have previously demonstrated basket weaving or chair caning at the Kaneland Community Fine Arts Festival in 2017, and at Pioneer Day at the Kishwaukee Valley Heritage Museum in Genoa. Watch our Facebook page and the “upcoming events” section of this page for any additional events!
